Some people discover their passion later in life — but for Nikky Nails, the foundation was set long before she ever touched a professional brush. Her journey into the beauty world began in the 8th grade, when her parents recognized her natural attraction to the industry and enrolled her in cosmetology school. That decision changed everything.

“I realized early on that when you look pretty, you feel pretty,” Nikky says. “Beauty has always been a form of confidence, expression, and empowerment.”

But her love for nails happened almost by accident — or as she puts it, “by default.”

Growing up as an onychophagist (a nail biter), Nikky discovered that when she wore acrylic nails, she didn’t bite anymore. What started as a simple solution became the spark that ignited a lifelong career.

A Licensed Powerhouse in Three States

After high school, Nikky attended Dudley Beauty College and secured her professional license in 2011. Today, she proudly holds licenses in three different states, a milestone that opened doors for her to serve a diverse clientele.

“Working in multiple states gives you exposure to different cultures,” she explains. “Different women like different styles, different shapes, different enhancements — and that helped me master versatility. It made me the nail guru I am today.”

Clients call her a beast in her field, and she owns that title with pride.

“There isn’t a style I can’t achieve,” Nikky says confidently. “But if I had to choose a favorite? It’s ombré. It’s the modern-day French manicure — the blend, the transition, the technique… it completely intrigues me.”

A Mentor Who Changes Lives

Nikky’s journey isn’t just about perfecting nails — it’s also about elevating others.

While out shopping one day, she complimented a cashier’s nails. The woman shared that she was a nail technician but was working retail because she hadn’t yet built confidence in her craft. Nikky didn’t hesitate.

“I told her, ‘Your work is amazing. Why are you here and not working confidently in your gift?’”

A month later, Nikky returned — and the cashier was gone.

Not because she quit beauty, but because she was now working full-time as a successful nail technician.

“That warmed my heart,” Nikky says. “I’ve mentored many nail technicians over the years. It’s not just about the service — it’s the experience the client leaves with. And it’s knowing your value. I teach that it’s okay to charge what you’re worth. People pay for what they love.”

Nail Care Is Not Vanity — It’s Science

One of Nikky’s missions is to shift how people view nail care.

“People don’t realize how important the nail bed is,” she explains. “Healthy nail beds are the foundation. There’s chemistry involved in everything we do — from polishing to enhancements to a classic manicure.”

To Nikky, a manicure is more than a beauty service.

“Think about your facial regimen — it keeps you looking young and healthy. Now apply that same care to your hands. They age too. Proper nail care is my philosophy, and it’s the standard I teach.”
