Master Contractor Leroy grew up in Brooklyn NY and is of Caribbean descent. He has lived in both South Florida and Atlanta over the past 15 years but now resides mainly in Atlanta. He has worked in corporate America for  many years as a media sales account executive. Embracing his passion for home remodeling, Leroy decided to launch Neighbor By Neighbor Home services about 5 years ago concentrating on upgrading kitchen, bathrooms, and basements for homeowners across the South. He is also a proud member of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI)

How did you get started in the renovation/remodeling business and what were some initial challenges?

I always had a passion for building and enhancing things. This passion  was nurtured by helping friends and family out with household projects. The joy that completed projects brought them inspired me to start Neighbor by Neighbor Home Services. Scaling for larger projects and building a reliable team were some early challenges that I have since overcome.

What are some things a homeowner should know before making the leap towards remodeling their kitchen or bathroom and is it worth it?

Before moving forward with a kitchen or bathroom remodel, homeowners should define their renovation goals, establish a realistic budget, choose a qualified contractor, plan for the project’s time line and be prepared for potential surprises.  Also, consider the impact of the remodel on their day to day lives including temporary relocation if necessary. Kitchen and bathroom remodels are definitely worth the investment as they both can add great value to your home.

How can a homeowner avoid going over budget?

This is a great question. Some ways to help minimize going over budget are by creating a realistic budget, prioritizing upgrades and staying organized throughout the project. At Neighbor by Neighbor Home services project management is a huge part of our process to ensure  that everything stays within the planned parameters from start to finish.

How long does a kitchen and/or bathroom remodeling take? Do you advise them on relocating while the work is being done?

For a kitchen typically 4-12 weeks while a bathroom can take 2-6 weeks. Availability of specific materials like preferred cabinet styles , tiles & fixtures can be contributing factors to these timelines.
