Urban One Receives The Phoenix Award from the City of Atlanta

At the Urban One Honors kickoff event at the Waldorf Astoria, Atlanta City Council President Doug Shipman presented a proclamation on behalf of the City of Atlanta to Alfred C. Liggins III in recognition of TV One’s 20th Anniversary & Urban One Honors, thanking Urban One “for all of the ways you’ve helped bring families and our community to a deeper understanding of ourselves.”


Select talent from the 6th Annual URBAN ONE HONORS: Best In Black were in attendance including CeeLo Green (Urban One Honors Performer), Nicci Gilbert (Urban One Honors Performer), Reginae Carter & Yandy Smith-Harris (Urban One Honors Red Carpet Hosts), and Chef Jernard Wells – (The Chef of Love, CLEO-TV Host #newsoulkitchen & New Soul Kitchen Remix).

The next day, TV One taped the 6th Annual URBAN ONE HONORS: Best In Black, the ultimate celebration of Black Excellence, acknowledging individuals whose remarkable achievements and significant contributions have left an indelible mark on the arts, media, music, and the community. The City of Atlanta honored TV One and Urban One again with Mayor Andre Dickens presenting the City’s highest award, The Phoenix Award at the close of Red Carpet. 


The two-hour “URBAN ONE HONORS: Best in Black” will premiere during Black History Month on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at 8p/7c, on TV One and simulcast on CLEO TV.
