What can I say? The 2026 ESSENCE Festival of Culture®️ presented by Coca-Cola®️ was full of surprises, unforgettable moments, powerful conversations, and cultural celebrations.
From the press rooms to the packed Center Stages, from Beautycon™️ to the Global Black Economic Forum, from community-focused activations to the legendary performances inside the Caesars Superdome — ESSENCE once again reminded the world why it remains the ultimate celebration of Black culture.
For three incredible days, New Orleans became the center of entertainment, entrepreneurship, beauty, wellness, leadership, storytelling, and Black excellence.
The daytime experiences took place at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, while the evening concert series brought thousands together inside the iconic Caesars Superdome.
Presented by Coca-Cola®️, ESSENCE Festival continued its legacy of connecting communities, brands, creators, leaders, and generations.
The ESSENCE Daytime Experience: Culture, Business & Community
The Convention Center was filled with activations, conversations, and opportunities that showed ESSENCE is bigger than entertainment.

Beautycon™️: Beauty, Confidence & Representation
Beautycon™️ celebrated the power of beauty, creativity, individuality, and entrepreneurship.
The experience highlighted beauty innovation, hair care, skin care, fashion, creators, influencers, and the importance of representation.
It was a celebration of identity, confidence, and seeing ourselves represented in every space.
Disney Activation: Dreams, Creativity & Storytelling
The Disney experience celebrated imagination, creativity, family, and the importance of representation through storytelling.
It reminded attendees that diverse stories inspire the next generation of dreamers.
Health & Wellness: True Wealth Starts With Community
ESSENCE created important spaces focused on wellness, prevention, and community education.
Healthcare activations focused on:
• Preventative health
• Mental wellness
• Family health
• Health education
• Access to resources
• Health equity
The message was clear — protecting our health is part of building our legacy.
Global Black Economic Forum: Economic Power & Ownership

The Global Black Economic Forum was one of the most empowering parts of ESSENCE Festival 2026.

Friday, July 3, 2026 — Day One: Leadership, Legacy & Opening Night
ESSENCE opened with powerful appearances from:

One of the most historic moments was seeing Dr. Bernice A. King and Dr. Ilyasah Shabazz together — connecting the legacies of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X.
Their presence represented sacrifice, resilience, history, and continuing the work their fathers fought for.
Inside the Caesars Superdome, Michelle Obama joined Keke Palmer for an intimate conversation centered on purpose, growth, and empowerment.
The night featured:

Cardi B closed the evening with unforgettable energy.
Saturday, July 4, 2026 — Day Two: Icons, R&B Royalty & Legendary Moments
Day Two welcomed:

Inside the Caesars Superdome, ESSENCE celebrated its Icons theme — honoring the voices and artists who shaped generations.
One of the biggest moments was the reunion of Brandy and Monica.

Since their legendary collaboration “The Boy Is Mine,” the two artists have represented one of the most memorable eras in R&B.
Their ESSENCE performance represented more than music — it represented growth, sisterhood, respect, healing, and the power of two women whose voices influenced generations.
The night became even more emotional as Brandy honored Whitney Houston’s legacy.
Whitney was more than an icon — she was an inspiration and mentor who helped open doors for future generations.
Their connection through the groundbreaking film Cinderella remains historic, with Whitney Houston starring as the Fairy Godmother and Brandy becoming the first Black Cinderella.
The tribute celebrated Whitney’s unmatched vocals, elegance, impact, and her lasting influence on entertainment.
The celebration continued with performances from:

The Superdome was filled with surprise moments, including a special appearance from Tevin Campbell, bringing nostalgia and excitement to a night dedicated to legendary music.
Sunday, July 5, 2026 — Day Three: Closing Night, Legacy & The Celebration of Aaliyah

The final day of daytime programming closed with:
• Reginae Carter
• Toya Johnson
• Eva Marcille
• Grambling State University Marching Band
The final Superdome celebration honored the past, present, and future of Black music.
T.I. delivered a special performance by reimagining his catalog with a live orchestra, blending hip-hop, storytelling, and musicianship.

One of the most emotional moments of the closing night was Missy Elliott’s powerful tribute honoring Aaliyah — the Princess of R&B.
The tribute celebrated Aaliyah’s groundbreaking artistry, innovative sound, effortless style, dance influence, and unforgettable contributions to music and culture.
Aaliyah changed the landscape of entertainment, inspiring generations of artists with her creativity, confidence, and originality.
More than two decades later, her legacy continues to live on through the music, fashion, and artists she influenced.
The celebration continued with:
