Rising digital hub Lockerverse launched its platform with a one of a kind free digital collectible of the Celebration Bowl Trophy to 50,000 fans at the Championship Game in Atlanta on December 17th. The Celebration Bowl featured the SWAC Champions Jackson State University, with head coach Prime Time Deion Sanders last game before heading to the University of Colorado, against MEAC Champions North Carolina Central University.
Lockerverse was founded by three Black and Hispanic men—William A.I. "Trey" McDonald, James Carlos McFall, and Marcus Rance—who met during their undergraduate years at Stanford University. Together, the founders have a diverse background in technology, business, and law, and have worked with or represented some of the most well-known and innovative names in media, sports, entertainment, and tech. Entrepreneur, philanthropist, and art enthusiast, Savannah James, is a founding team member.
This platform will be a community hub that features athletes as well as entertainers, artists, designers and brands. Participants can not only gain access to the player-related content, but also to merchandise, digital and in real life experiences, gamification and community chats. They will initially feature future NFL pick CJ Stroud of Ohio State, and LeBron James’ two basketball-playing sons Bronny and Bryce. "We want to create an inclusive platform for those who want to participate in web 3.0 through the Lockerverse Community," states co-founder James Carlos McFall. "We don't want to just be at the table, we want to build the table!!"
The partners of Lockerverse have big plans for 2023 as well. They are apart of the Disney Accelerator Program, they will be launching an exclusive CJ Stroud digital collectible at the College Football Playoffs, and they have several ventures lined up with various entertainers and artists.
