Thunderstorms, pouring rain, tornado warnings, and an hours long delay did not stop some of the most iconic R&B singers of the 80's from putting on a vibrant show at the Vystar Ampitheater in Stockbridge, Georgia.
The "Ladies of the 80's" Concert featured some of our favorite singers from that time such as Beverly Crawford, Shanice, Karyn White, Deniece Williams, Evelyn Champagne King, and Regina Belle.
Gospel singer Beverly Crawford opened the show and raised the roof to get the audience electrified. Shanice followed her right after that and just as she was about to perform her hit "I Love Your Smile", local authorities notified the crowd that a potential tornado was coming and for everyone to seek shelter. Because Vystar Ampitheater is an outdoor venue, it is common for shows to be delayed in the event of thunder and lightning for the safety of the audience and the performers.
After an hours long delay to let the storms pass, concertgoers were rewarded for their patience by each performer coming out one by one and performing all of their hits.
Evelyn Champagne King singing "Shame" and hitting the bongos. Karyn White bringing the house down by performing "Superwoman". Deniece Williams singing my all time favorite song "Free", and Regina Belle closing out the night with her energetic performance of "Baby Come to Me".
The best part of the night was after the ladies acknowledged the promoters with a gift, they all got together and sang a historic performance of "I'm Every Woman" by Chaka Khan.
