Ashthon Jones is an accomplished R&B singer from Nashville, Tennessee growing up surrounded by music and heavily influenced by the soulful sounds of gospel and R&B. Jones' passion for music began at a young age, and she honed her skills by singing in church and participating in local talent shows. Her big break came in 2011 when she auditioned for American Idol Season 10 in Nashville. Her powerful voice and soulful performances immediately caught the attention of the judges and viewers and she went on to make it to the top 13 finalists. Her performances on the show were memorable and she became known for her ability to deliver powerful, emotional performances that left audiences spellbound.
After her stint on American Idol, Ashthon independently released her debut single "Lookout", in 2013 which showcased her powerful vocals and soulful style. The song received positive reviews and helped to establish her as a rising star in the R&B music scene. Jones' music is deeply rooted in R&B, soul, and gospel and her voice is one of her most powerful instruments. She uses it to deliver emotionally charged performances that leave listeners moved and inspired. Her second most powerful instrument is her phenomenal penmanship that she uses to keep creating hit after hit which led her to work with fellow music stars such as Lecrae's Grammy Award winning album and Big K.R.I.T.
Now residing in Atlanta, Georgia, Jones' talent and dedication to her craft have earned her a dedicated fanbase and critical acclaim. She is currently a judge on BTV's singing competition show Shine and Ashthon has recently dropped a chart topping new single called “Pop Out” that has peaked #8 on ITunes top 40 US and #6 on ITunes UK charts!! Ashthon tells us about the inspiration behind her new song.
Boss XL Mag - What was the inspiration for this new song?
Ashthon Jones - I honestly wrote this song around the time Covid was slowing down and we were able to move around more in the world. It was like an anxious feeling to “Pop Out” and do what I wanna do. Secondly, I wanted to let everyone know that it’s my time! I been working so hard over the years! I had to put it in they faces and MAKE THEM SEE ME!
Boss XL Mag - What are your plans for yourself and the song going forward?
Ashthon Jones - My goal was to use this song as the gateway to my new upcoming music I’m dropping soon! I’m in the middle of working on my album! I feel like it’s a great way to start the summer and give people something to bop to while I work on my project! I’m so grateful to have my song Chart #8 on ITunes top 40 in less than a week of my release! I’m addicted to that feeling now, so the goal moving forward is to chart on Billboard!!
