The Lifetime Network, continuing its supremacy as the destination for telling women's stories, premiered the Mary J Blige Executive Produced movie "Real Love" at the AMC Madison Yards 8 in Atlanta. Blige is serving as executive producer on two original films through her own production banner, Blue Butterfly, alongside Ashaunna Ayars and Nicole Jackson: Real Love and Strength of a Woman. The movies will air throughout 2023.
"Real Love" follows 18-year-old Kendra (Ajiona Alexus - BMF) as she sets off on her own for the first time at an HBCU in North Carolina. Attending on a scholarship, Kendra is determined to focus on school while balancing work study and keeping things professional with Ben (Da’Vinchi- BMF), her photo class partner. Despite disapproving parents, financial hardship, and even an unexpected pregnancy, Kendra and Ben find themselves falling hard for each other and ultimately learning the meaning of "Real Love."
Besides the main stars, who showed great on screen chemistry throughout the movie, others coming to the premiere were fellow BMF cast member, Myles Truitt (B-Mickie), Ajiona's childhood friend Alix Lapri (Effie from Power), fellow "Real Love" cast member Princess Davis, Johnell Young (GZA from Wu-Tang: An American Saga), and singer/actress Serayah McNeill (Tiana from Empire).
