Jussie Smollett Directorial Debut of BET's B-Boy Blues Premieres in Atlanta

B-BOY BLUES, the film adaptation of James Earl Hardy’s best-selling novel, made its Atlanta premiere June 8th, 2022 on BET+ in celebration of Pride Month. The indie film, which won the Narrative Feature Fan Favorite Award at the 2021 American Black Film Festival (ABFF) where it debuted, explores the clash of class and culture when Mitchell Crawford, a college-educated journalist from Brooklyn and Raheim Rivers, a bike messenger from Harlem, fall in love.

The film marked the feature film directorial debut of Emmy nominated producer (Giants) and multi-NAACP Image Award-winning actor, Jussie Smollett. Many stars were in attendance to celebrate the premiere such as RHOA Kandi Burress, RHOA and V-103 Host Shamea Morton, Love and Hip-Hop Producer Mona Scott Young and many more.

B-BOY BLUES stars Timothy Richardson (David Makes Man), Grammy-winning singer/actor Ledisi, NAACP Image Award nominee Brandee Evans (P-Valley), Broderick Hunter (Insecure), Marquise Vilson (Tom Swift), and newcomer Thomas Mackie.

This marks the comeback for Jussie Smollett after being convicted in March 2022 of faking a hate crime in Chicago and sentenced to 150 days in jail. His case is currently in appeal.
